Extract From Symphony No. VII
A chance for the lower instruments to take the lead, this piece from the beginning of the second movement of Beethoven's 7th Symphony has been described as one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. It is unusual as a Brass Band piece in that it builds 'from the bottom'. With a repeating ostinato it is slow and stately, with carefully controlled pace and intensity.
