This is a short piece for concert band, that depicts the strange atmosphere that fell on the world with the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is written on the basis of a unique motif, exhibited from the start by the baritones and euphoniums. This motif appears throughout the piece in very different atmospheres which follow the chronology of events, from the announcement of confinement to regained freedom.
Hope ! begins in a heavy and anxious atmosphere, which reflects the relative deprivation of liberty due to confinement: the music is very polarized and the motif is a prisoner of itself.
After a static introduction, the rhythm starts, but unstable, reflecting the many uncertainties and reflections that emanated from this period.
Then, the wave of hope arrives, the pattern evolves and the music continues with a nice theme that speaks of freedom.
The end of the piece is brilliantly, to give us energy and hope for a return to normality ...
