Netherlands: Repertorium 4e Divisie Harmonie

FOLKSONG - RELOADED was composed for the international composing competition organised by the Alberschwende (Vorarlberg) Music Association to celebrate their 200- year anniversary. Competition rules stipulated that folk songs from the Vorarlberg region
were to be incorporated into the piece. Such folk songs as ‘Schwegelpfeifermarsch’, the ‘Montafoner Nationaltanz’, ‘Monferine’ and ‘Wunderschön – Prächtige’ can be heard in various rhythmic and harmonic variations. The individual songs (as well as their respective overtones) blend seamlessly into each other to create a modern concert piece of interest for both youth bands and middle-level bands. The piece consists of a quick beginning section, an expressive, slow middle section and a livelyending. The piece was awarded the special prize for Best Composition in the difficulty level 1-3.
