APPLECROSS IMPRESSION
One of the hidden gems of the Highlands is the Applecross peninsula (Scottish Gaelic: A'Chomraich, the sanctuary). The beautiful village is formed by the centuries around the Abbey, founded in 672.
Applecross Impression opens with the breathtaking tranquility in the village and chiming of the old parish church that has replaced the Abbey. The beautiful Celtic heritage and the atmosphere of Applecross translates in the beautiful opening solo.
The middle section is typified by the traditional folk melody "MADAINN EARRAICK" which comes from the region where Applecross is located, called Wester Ross. A detail is that the ancestors of composer Cornelis Tj. Ros (s) have allways lived in this region and until today are united in the still existing ROSS CLAN.
We climb the peninsula to the highest point on more than 700 meters. In a wonderful recurring melody we expierence the stunning and expansive views, that can be called typical Scottish. We conclude with the calm feeling that once we want to return to this area.

CORNELIS TJ. ROS
Cornelis was already at a very young age an excellent trombonist within the ranks of the Salvation Army and became a member of "The Amsterdam Staff Band". Via the SNK he followed the part-time course light music at the Hilversum Conservatory, where the love for composing was born. At the Hogeschool Haarlem he completed his studies Human Resourcement. He was a respectable soprano and solo-cornettist in a number of excellent brass bands. Also he was 9 years conductor of gospel choir "The Rovenians" until he emigrated to Portugal. In Portugal, he founded a jazz-quartet, played in big bands and wind bands. He was conductor of various choirs, brass bands and later on the Filarmónica de São Brás. In this period he completed a masterclass of orchestral conducting at the Faro Conservatory. As co-founder he headed the local music school of São Brás de Alportel for 5 years. He was also national musical instructor within the Organization of the Salvation Army in Portugal. After nine years living in Portugal he chose to move to Belgium with his family, where he is a welcome guest-conductor and is developping his composing- and arranging-skills
